Alameda Story Slam

Toastmasters District 57 Speakers Bureau

Have you gotten comfortable speaking in front of Toastmasters and need a nudge our of your
comfort zone? Would you like to enjoy an evening watching everyday people telling interesting
personal stories. If you answered yes to either of those questions, a community story slam is
the place for you to go.

Story slams are evenings of great stories delivered by everyday people. Some attendees go to
enjoy the fascinating stories, others who are adventurous, put their names in a hat in hopes of
being chosen one of 10 people randomly selected to tell a 5–6-minute personal story. Whether
you’re chosen to speak or not, all attendees spend the evening hearing heartfelt personal
stories that are based on the theme of the evening. Themes have been teaching moments,
busted, envy, and pretty much anything you can think of.

These events are great fun for all. I enjoy the story slams because they’re opportunities for
everyday people who are willing to take a risk to shine. If you’d like more information on a story
telling event near you, please check the links below or contact me at [email protected]
